Experience

I’m a skilled marketer and content creator specialising in legal marketing. I’ve worked in the legal sector for almost 30 years. During that time, I worked for law firms such as Linder Myers, Berg & Co, Rowlands Solicitors, Pannone Solicitors, and Slater and Gordon. 

I worked at Slater and Gordon, formerly Pannone Solicitors, from 2003 to 2022. There, I was the marketing manager for the personal injury practices, managing marketing communications, implementing marketing strategies, and leading content plans and campaigns. The practices I managed nationally included RTA, ELPL, industrial disease, medical negligence, military injuries, travel litigation, abuse law, public inquiries, Court of Protection, disability rights, educational rights and human rights. As a result, I have extensive knowledge of the personal injury market. 

In the early years, before my move into marketing, I was a fee earner working within the serious injury team. The work I did has provided me with a unique insight as a marketer, when creating quality content and taking personal injury services to market. 

My areas of specialism include creating plans and strategies to feed into wider business strategies and creating content, from  creating optimised website copy and blogs, to designing engaging brochures, literature and social media assetsOne area I’m most passionate about is website management. I’ve had several clients who aren’t happy with their website, whether its the design, its SEO value, or its performance. I love getting the the crux of their goals, finding solutions, and delivering a website they can be proud of. 

For over 15 years, I’ve been involved in the submissions of legal directories, Chambers and Partners, and Legal 500. During this time I’ve provided valuable support such as hosting workshops on best practices, providing one-to-one support, writing copy, editing, and coordinating the submission process. 

Career highlights

In almost 30 years in the legal sector, I’ve had many career highlights. A recent example would be working on a large-scale project with a team of experts to create a brand new website. For my part in the project, I wrote hundreds of new optimised website pages. These included the personal injury practices, about us, and expert profile pages. 

As a result of the project, the website saw a 28.11% increase in new users, a 25.56% increase in organic sessions, and a 98.3% increase in Searchmetrics visibility score. Additionally, as a result of that work, we were shortlisted for Best Search Marketing Campaign at the Northern Marketing Awards 2020. This was for “transforming near-terminal decline to deliver market-leading organic search performance”.

Another highlight was leading the content strategy to launch a new product following the whiplash reforms in 2021. I built and led the content strategy and created all the content. This included optimised written web content, product copy, client communications, the design of assets, and social media videos. As a result, at the time the product launched, it achieved a top 5 position on Google for the keyword phrase and #1 law firm. The content I created also appeared in 8 out of 10 pieces of content on Google News. 

In addition, the Head of Sales and Distribution at one of Europe’s leading insurance companies said about the website content I had written: 

“For customers, the narrative is very fair, open, and balanced. Not trying to discourage customers from acting as a Litigant in Person, however, providing enough information so that if they decide to take that route, they would be going in with their eyes wide open and would be ‘educated on the challenge’.”  

Most recently, I’ve provided marketing training in workshops across Greater Manchester. The workshops have been for startups and small businesses with little or no marketing knowledge or experience. Workshops include SEO for beginners, how to build a content strategy for your business, and how to build a brand. I’ve loved sharing my knowledge and experience with those people, to help their businesses succeed, and plan on doing many more in the future.
