Eve Dugdale

Eve is Ruche Marketing’s freelance media adviser. She has more than two decades of experience in both the UK and UAE. Her journalism and media background brings an understanding of what makes a story newsworthy, how newsrooms operate, and how to get a client’s message picked up by the outlets that matter to them. She is a fantastic edition to Ruche’s team.

Experience

I started out as a junior reporter at MEN Media (2003–2008), covering courts, inquests and local government across Greater Manchester, including reporting on the Shipman Inquiry for the Tameside Advertiser and the Manchester Evening News. In 2004 I was highly commended in the “Best Young Reporter/Writer” category at the Guardian Media Group Awards, and I qualified as an NCE journalist the following year.

In 2008 I moved to the UAE as a Features Writer for 7DAYS, part of the Daily Mail & General Trust plc, and was promoted to Deputy Features Editor in 2010. Over six years I edited the title’s Wellbeing magazine, generated its celebrity content, during which time I interviewed names including John Cleese, Alicia Keys and Liam Gallagher, and managed a team of writers and freelancers.

Back in Manchester from 2014, I worked freelance across a range of publications, including covering UK general elections for the BBC, before moving in-house as media adviser for Slater and Gordon Lawyers from 2017 to 2021, helping shape how the legal brand communicated with the press.

Since September 2021 I’ve worked freelance as a media adviser, helping legal and consumer-facing clients tell their stories clearly, credibly and in a way that lands with the journalists who’ll actually run them.

Career Highlights

I’ve had many highlights in my career, these include: 

  • Guardian Media Group Awards, 2004 – Highly Commended, Best Young Reporter/Writer
  • NCE qualified, 2005
  • Reported on the Shipman Inquiry and covered courts, inquests and local government across Greater Manchester

For the past two years, I’ve worked closely with Ruche Marketing, helping build law firm clients’ profiles through media coverage and speaking directly with their consumer clients to find and shape the stories that best represent them.
